XP blue screen of death, a regular occurence?
My computer has been randomly crashing with bsod(blue screens of death). It happens almost every day now. It tends to happen when i am browsing the net, but it can also happen when I’m not even using it or simply typing.
Here’s some of the errors it’s showed when crashing:
-irq not less or equal
-page fault in non paged area
-bad pool header
Sometimes with these errors the name of a specific file is given. Once the ‘page fault in a non paged area’ error came up and a specific filename was given – win32k.sys. I have also seen the ntfs.sys file being linked to one error.
I have also noticed that programs tend to crash a lot more when I am using them – specifically IE and Mozilla.
Are there any diagnostic tools that will help me locate the source of the error?
Is it a case of corrupted files in the system?
Is it hardware or software related?
Is it a virus?
Had this problem few months ago but I did a clean install. Now its back again. Please help me
IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is normally due to a problem with SOMETHING hardware.. pci card/bus are the normal culprits (ie the second network card that seemed to alleviate the problem much much earlier). Odds are that your motherboard is failing though and as a stop-gap you can remove EVERYTHING that is slotted (not ram) and see if you still get the crash.
There is a real expert on this subject. He’ll tell you what all your BSOD’s are caused by (bad RAM, hardware or software).
