I installed a ventless, natural gas fireplace. The numbers showing the actual level make it a good monitor as well as an alarm.
Good investment December 14, 2008 C. Jaromack (Elizabethtown, KY, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are so many cheap products that have been designed to keep us safe and advertise ease of use and too often, they let the consumer down. This CO detector is not one of those items! I honestly believe that you get what you pay for, and this product is a perfect example. I would highly recommend the Kidde CO Detector to anyone.
Not the Best December 12, 2008 WeeBee (Massachusetts)
Easy to set up but batteries need to be replaced way too often for me meaning less then monthly. Frequently gives low battery alarm. Fine but this often happens in the middle of the night. Will purchase different model from other company in the future.
Works Great December 5, 2008 Mr. Real (NH) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We've had two of these (one upstairs and one downstairs) for 2+ years. They work great. They are easy to set up. Some complain about the beeping at start... it stops after a 30 second start up diognostic. (Read the manual). The upstairs unit is hung on the wall between bedrooms. The downstairs unit moves back and forth between the hot water heater (condo unit) or the ventless NG fireplace. I can check for peak levels of CO, which is at most 10ppm... and that's only when gas appliances start up... which is normal. When I place the unit in the center of our downstairs, away from the NG units, no CO levels ever register. It's nice to have the peace of mind the units afford us. The other great benefit to these battery units is... if you desire, you can pack them up and take them with you on a trip. More peace of mind for a place you may not be familiar with. Great price for the safety it brings. Simular rated items can go for $100... and those need to be plugged in or hard wired... not great if you lose power. I don't see how you can go wrong with this product.
2 in a row - both dead December 3, 2008 L. Polly (Jamesville, NY, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
My first unit did nothing but squeal when I inserted the batteries - no display, no lights. OK, a bad unit. Unfortunately I had the same experience after returning the first and getting a second one. With all the good reviews, I'm sure Kiddie makes working alarms, but its the last Kiddie I'll buy.
